Whether you’re a seasoned walker or just starting out, committing to just 20 minutes a day for seven days can create incredible momentum.   • Why 20 Minutes?: The American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM)  provides guidelines for physical activity to promote health, which can be applied to walking. The ACSM recommends that adults get at least 150 minutes of moderate intensity aerobic activity per week. 7 x 20 gets you to 140, so you’re pretty much covered.

The Rules For The Challenge Are Simple

This challenge is all about consistency and building a healthy habit. The rules are simple and designed to make it easy for everyone to participate and succeed.

  • Rule 1: Walk Daily. For seven consecutive days, you must walk for a minimum of 20 minutes per day. The time of day doesn’t matter—do what works for your schedule!
  • Rule 2: Any Walk Counts. Whether you’re on a treadmill, walking a park trail, or strolling around your neighborhood, all forms of walking count toward your 20 minutes.
  • Rule 3: Track Your Progress. Keep track of your daily walks using a fitness tracker, a smartphone app, or even a simple pen and paper. The most important thing is to be honest with yourself and log your progress each day.
  • Rule 4: Consistency is Key. The goal is to complete all seven days. Even if you miss a day, don’t give up! Just pick up where you left off the next day and finish your seven-day streak.

While tracking steps is nice, we’re focusing on time spent walking for the challenge. That’s a simple metric that’s easy to track.
    • Walk at Least 20 Minutes a Day: For seven consecutive days, make time to walk for a minimum of 20 minutes. It’s the core of the challenge!
    • Log Your Progress: After each walk, record your completion in your notes. This helps build momentum and gives you a visual record of your success.
