Day 1 - The Story You’ve Been Telling Yourself (with video below)
📅 Day 1: The Story You’ve Been Telling Yourself
🎯 Daily Focus
Today is about awareness. Before you can change your story, you must see it clearly.
Most of us carry unconscious beliefs about our bodies, our worth, and our ability to change. These beliefs didn’t start with us — they were inherited from parents, doctors, media, childhood bullies, or past trauma. But over time, they became part of the script we follow — often without question.
Today, you begin to question it.
💬 Message from Danielle
“For years, I carried stories that weren’t mine — stories that told me I wasn’t strong enough, worthy enough, or lovable unless I looked a certain way. But the truth is: we are not our past, and we are not our weight.
You are not broken. You are becoming. And you get to decide what happens next.”
— Danielle Dahl
✍️ Journaling Prompt
What is the story I’ve been telling myself about my weight, body, or ability to change? Where did it come from?
Let yourself write without editing. Be honest. Even if it’s messy. Even if you don’t like what comes out. The goal is awareness, not perfection.
If it helps, complete these statements:
-
“I’ve always believed that I ________.”
-
“My story about my weight sounds like __________.”
-
“I remember being told ________.”
🕰️ Suggested Time: 10–15 minutes
Choose a quiet space, get comfortable, and write with intention.
🗣️ Optional Sharing in the Comments Section below
We invite you to share one sentence that reflects your current story.
It might sound like:
-
“I’ve always been the ‘big one’ in my family.”
-
“No matter what I do, I always gain the weight back.”
-
“I feel like I’m destined to fail at this.”
There is no shame in your story — only power in facing it.
✅ Daily Reminder
You are not your weight. You are not your past.
You are the author of the next chapter.
Day 2 – What That Story Has Cost You (with video below)
✍️ Day 2: What That Story Has Cost You
🎯 Objective:
To gain deeper awareness of the emotional, mental, and physical toll that your old story has taken — and to begin releasing what no longer serves you.
💡 Today’s Insight:
Every story we carry comes with a cost. Maybe it has held you back from showing up confidently. Maybe it’s shaped your eating habits, triggered shame cycles, or made you feel unworthy of love, rest, or change.
This is not about blaming yourself — it’s about seeing clearly.
By naming the cost of your old story, you give yourself the power to stop paying it.
🖋️ Journal Prompt:
“How has the story I’ve been telling myself affected my life? What has it cost me — physically, emotionally, socially, or spiritually?”
Explore one or more of the following:
-
Relationships that may have suffered
-
Opportunities you hesitated to take
-
Health issues that were worsened
-
The way you speak to or see yourself
-
The feelings you’ve stuffed down with food or distraction
Let your thoughts flow freely. Be honest. No filters.
💌 Optional Action:
Write a short letter from your future self — the version of you who has already released the old story and stepped into a healthier, freer life.
What would they say to you right now? What do they know that you haven’t fully realized yet?
💬 Optional Forum Sharing:
In the MPWLC Chat Forum or comments, you’re welcome to post:
A single word or phrase that captures what you’re ready to release.
Example:
“Self-hate”
“The belief that I’m too far gone”
“Shame from childhood comments”
You are not alone. We are stronger together.
Day 3 – Who You Are Beyond the Weight (with video below)
✍️ Day 3: Who You Are Beyond the Weight
🎯 Objective:
To separate your true identity from the number on the scale, the mistakes in your past, or the voice of your inner critic — and reconnect with who you really are underneath it all.
💡 Today’s Insight:
Weight is something you carry.
It is not who you are.
You are not your eating habits.
You are not your struggles.
You are not your lowest moment.
The problem is, when we’ve lived inside the same story for so long, we start confusing our experiences with our identity. But they are not the same.
Today is about remembering that you are more than your weight — and always have been.
🖋️ Journal Prompt:
“What do I love, value, or appreciate about myself that has nothing to do with my weight or appearance?”
Let yourself list things like:
-
Your persistence
-
Your kindness
-
Your creativity
-
Your sense of humor
-
Your resilience
-
Your ability to start again
Then take it a step further:
Write 5 “I AM” statements based on who you truly are.
Examples:
-
I am someone who shows up, even when it’s hard.
-
I am learning to treat myself with kindness.
-
I am worthy of health and happiness.
-
I am not my past.
-
I am a work in progress — and that’s okay.
💌 Optional Action:
Read your “I AM” statements out loud to yourself in the mirror — even if it feels awkward.
Speaking the truth builds internal belief over time.
💬 Optional Sharing In The Comments Section below:
You are invited to post one of your “I AM” statements in the Comments Section below.
This is a great day to support others, too — reply to someone else’s post with encouragement if you feel moved to do so.
Day 4 – Write a New Story (with video below)
✍️ Day 4: Write a New Story
🎯 Objective:
To consciously choose a new internal narrative — one that supports your goals, your healing, and the person you are becoming.
💡 Today’s Insight:
You don’t have to be defined by the story you inherited.
You get to write your own.
You’ve spent the last few days reflecting on the story that’s been driving your choices… and what it has cost you. You’ve also remembered who you are beyond the weight.
Now it’s time to put all of that together — and author your new story.
Not some fantasy version of perfection.
Not someone else’s story.
Yours. Empowered. Real. Honest. Hopeful.
🖋️ Journal Prompt:
“What story do I now choose to live — one that supports my healing, growth, and long-term health?”
Write a new story that reflects:
-
The truth of who you are
-
The kind of life you want to live
-
The strength and commitment inside you
-
Your power to make new choices moving forward
Start your paragraph with:
👉 “I am becoming…”
Then write a full paragraph (or two) describing this new version of your life, your mindset, and your identity.
💌 Optional Action:
If you’re artistic or visual, consider turning your new story into a vision board, a voice recording, or a one-page declaration that you print and revisit regularly.
Whatever you do, make it visible — because what you focus on expands.
💬 Optional Sharing In The Comments Section below:
Today is a great day to share in the Comments Section below.
We invite you to post your full New Story paragraph — or even just your opening sentence.
Example:
“I am becoming someone who trusts herself to follow through, who doesn’t quit when it gets hard, and who nourishes her body because she finally believes she’s worth it.”
Reading others’ stories may inspire you.
Sharing yours may inspire them.
Day 5 – Live the Story You’ve Written (with video below)
✍️ Day 5: Live the Story You’ve Written
🎯 Objective:
To move from reflection to aligned action by identifying habits, decisions, and mindset shifts that support the new story you’ve written — and to anchor your transformation in daily life.
💡 Today’s Insight:
Writing a new story is powerful…
But living it is where the magic happens.
Your old story may still try to whisper to you:
“You always quit.”
“You’ll never stick with it.”
“You’ll fail again.”
That’s okay. Let it talk — but don’t let it lead.
Every small choice you make is a sentence in your new story.
Every healthy habit is a paragraph.
Every time you get back up, that’s your next chapter.
You are now the author and the main character of the story you’ve chosen.
Let’s live like it.
🖋️ Journal Prompt:
“What habits, boundaries, and choices will I make to align with the story I’ve chosen to live?”
Try listing:
-
3 daily practices that support your new story
-
1 mindset or belief you’re done entertaining
-
A “mantra” or phrase that will anchor you when old thoughts arise
Examples:
-
I take 10 minutes each morning to ground myself before reacting to the day.
-
I eat to fuel and love my body — not to punish or numb myself.
-
I remind myself: “This time, I don’t run from myself — I show up.”
💌 Optional Action:
Choose one or more habits or actions that you’ll begin today — no matter how small — that reinforces your new story.
It could be:
-
Drinking a full glass of water before meals
-
Saying your new mantra in the mirror
-
Preparing a nourishing meal
-
Logging a win in your MPWLC weight-loss dashboard and posting your weight
-
Choosing self-compassion over criticism when things go sideways
Remember: Tiny steps lead to lasting change.
💬 Optional Sharing in the Comments Section below:
As we close the challenge, we invite you to post:
One habit you’re starting today
Your biggest takeaway from the 5-day experience
A word or phrase that captures the story you’re now choosing to live
This is your first day living your new story — and the MPWLC community is here to walk beside you.
